Satoshi Kon was an anime director and mangaka from Kushiro, Hokkaido, Japan. He was well-known for his work on Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika. Sadly, Kon passed away on August 24, 2010, after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer, he is remembered by all who loved his works Satoshi Kon was a Japanese director of anime films. Kon started his career as a manga artist and editor in Young Magazine, and then made his screenwriting debut with Magnetic Rose, a section of the anthology film Memories. These are but a few of the striking images found in the works of anime director Satoshi Kon, whose films masterfully blur the line between fantasy and reality. While they never reached massive popularity, Kon’s works received near-universal critical acclaim and garnered cult followings for their unique approach to storytelling. Perfect Blue is the first film directed by Satoshi Kon, an animated psychological thriller often compared to the suspense-ridden works of Alfred Hitchcock.

Satoshi Kon was born in 1963. He studied at the Musashino College of the Arts. He began his career as a Manga artist. He then moved to animation and worked as a background artist on many films (including Roujin Z (1991) by 'Katsuhiro Otomo').
